2022 Severe Weather/Hurricane Guide

RAIN GAUGE INFORMATION FOR SANTA FE
You can go to www.harriscountyfws.org and on the left side of the window there is a title called “sites by agency” drop down the menu and select our district, "Galveston County Drainage District", and it will show our gages. You can also click on the individual gage on the map for the Santa Fe area for more information and historical data. You can set up an account and have the gage send you text/email alerts as well.
RULES TO REMEMBER DURING A STORM OR FLOOD:
"Turn Around, Don't Drown" Flash Flooding
- Turn Around, Don't Drown. Isolated underpasses or low-water crossings may be life-threatening.
- Monitor the NWS, your local media, HCFCD and other official weather information sources.
- Remove all trash cans and debris away from the ditches
-Put all lawn furniture, toys, or loose items away to prevent them to become flying objects
- Stock up on household goods and supplies
- Make sure all vehicles are full of gas
-Service your generators
-Don't forget about your pet supplies
-Call 211 if you or a family member needs assistance
-Make the Police Department aware of special needs in case you need help with evacuating
-Be neighborly and friendly, we are all in this together.
