Safe Exchange Zone

Establishment of Safe Trade Zone at Santa Fe PD

     On April 20th, 2017, The Santa Fe PD  officially established an Safe Exchange Zone (E-Commerce and Child Custody exchange location) in the front parking lot located at 3650 N. FM 646 (Justice Center). The parking lot is monitored by cameras, but citizens may call 409-925-2000 if they have an issue, or 911 for an emergency, during the exchange. 

     “The Safe Exchange Zone although not a brand new concept, is designed for citizens to trade goods for e-commerce in a neutral location, or exchange children between parents/guardians for custody. The neutral location may help prevent those who want to come to the seller’s residence for other nefarious purposes, such as planning a burglary, etc. By meeting at the PD, the seller does not have to give away the privacy that they may desire at their residence” 

Santa Fe PD wants residents involved in e-commerce or child custody exchanges to be aware that the location at the PD is available 24 hours a day.
